Crop entries fail on the portal for a few recurring reasons: crop areas that add up to more than the plot, past seasons left without harvest details, and units that do not match. This episode covers each, with the checks that prevent them.

- Crop areas in a season must not exceed the plot; split the area between intercrops.
- Close past seasons with actual yields, uploaded within 60 days of harvest.
- Convert local units: 1 hectare = 2.471 acres; 1 quintal = 100 kg.
- Pick crops from the portal's list, not free text.
Crop Area Larger Than the Plot
In one season, the main crop and intercrops together cannot exceed the plot's area.
If a farmer grows two crops together on a 1-hectare plot, entering both at 1 hectare makes the season's total 2 hectares, and the entry fails.
Worked example. A 1.00-hectare plot with maize as the main crop and cowpea between the rows: enter maize 0.60 hectare and cowpea 0.40 hectare, totalling 1.00.
Record the split the group agreed at the field, and use the same split on the appraisal worksheet.
Past Seasons Without Harvest Details
A season left without actual yields can block later work; upload yields within 60 days of harvest.
- Find open seasons.Crops with no harvest date or actual yield recorded.
- Enter actual yields.From the group's records, within 60 days of harvest.
- RC approval.The RC approves actual yields within 15 days of upload.
- For a lost crop,record the real figure, even if zero, and keep evidence.
Illustrative workload. At about 4 minutes per farmer, checking past harvest entries for 3,000 farmers takes about 200 hours.

Convert local units before entry and choose crop names from the portal's list.
